The Best Time to Quit Smoking Is Now
I am compelled to write this article to remind people of the
dangers of smoking. Cigarette smoking is known to cause lung
cancer and is also linked to bladder, larynx and esophageal
cancers, as well as heart disease. Smoking is not glamorous as
the billboards and magazine ads depict. Smoking is not cool; it
is the very opposite and so very harmful to your health. You are
playing Russian roulette with your life if you continue to
smoke. The chemicals that ...

Is Your Focus on Disease, or Wellness?
Both Western and Chinese medicine could be accused of focusing
too much on disease treatment, rather than wellness.
Practitioners from both medicines are taught to be
problem-solvers and disease-curers instead of wellness promoters.
You can't blame Western medical docs - most of their preventive
advice is to avoid negative things. They don't really have a
deep and powerful system of prevention. No wonder they don't see
prevention as paramount.
We can't ...

As of now, January 2005, more than half of all north Americans
are struggling with obesity. The 'quick fix' for 'fat' for the
last 40+ years, becoming ever more popular, has become the
Atkins Diet. The Atkins Diet was first popularized in the U. S.
Air Force during the 1960's.
The Atkins Diet is very simple --- restrict your carbohydrate
intake. And guess what? It actually works. But Dr. Atkins, after
the initial few years of his popularized diet, began to make
modifications and refinements to ...

When Bill Clinton was scheduled for heart surgery, reporters
spoke of how he had been a junk food addict, loving burgers,
fries, and shakes, even eating a whole pie at one sitting.
After his quadruple bypass surgery, the major TV news shows
talked about how Bill had stopped taking his statin drugs, and
showed many of the pricey brands of pills.
Naughty, naughty, bad Bill.
Whoa! Stop! Time out!

There are many reasons for people to be following a diet.
Perhaps it is a special, doctor-advised regimen meant to control
or prevent certain illnesses such as high blood pressure or
diabetes. Maybe a diet is required due to particular food
allergies like a gluten-free diet or for people who are lactose
intolerant. The option of a diet such as vegetarian or
macrobiotic might simply be a personal lifestyle choice.
However, most people who are dieting are doing so because they
are ...

It will surprise you! Did you know that if you become ill and
you put yourself in the hands of 'mainstream' medical care and
need to be admitted to a hospital that the chances of you dying
from an unrelated problem are high? In fact, in the USA, deaths
from 'iatrogenic' cause rank # 3 after Heart Diseases and
Cancer! Let me explain what 'iatrogenic' means. This is a term
used when a patient dies as a direct result of treatments by a
physician, whether it is from misdiagnosis of the ailment ...

Developed by Dr. Arthur Agatston, The South Beach Diet touts
itself as teaching dieters to eat the right carbs and the right
fats. The diet has three phases. In the first dieter's banish
their bad carb cravings and induce rapid weight loss. In the
second phase, some types of carbs are reintroduced and weight
loss is slower. The final phase is the 'Diet for Life' phase.
This is the maintenance diet and will be followed for the rest
of the dieter's life. If at any time the dieter begins to ...

Life, these days, is at such a fast pace, many people do not
take the time to eat properly, thereby shortening their lives.
When people do not eat right, their body cells cannot repair
themselves. It is increasingly difficult to supply the family
with the proper nutrition, because of the depletion of minerals
and nutrients in farmland.
One would benefit greatly by using a nutritional supplement to
enhance health, to empower the immune system.
Barley grass was discovered to be one of the most ...

Motivation, Discipline, & Persistence
This book is meant to be primarily practical. It contains theory
and philosophy as well, but its main function is to be a tool to
improve your life. But most of the solutions in this book are
not one-time magic bullets. You must continue to apply many of
these frequently in order to bring yourself back into balance,
and to maintain that balance.
NEW HABITS, NEW LIFESTYLE
But, as imperfect humans in a very demanding and distracting
society, we have ...

What We Eat Affects How We Feel.
Disease and nutrition go hand in hand. Nutritional deficiencies
causes two things. Disease and aging. The other things that also
cause disease and aging are poor life style choices, mainly
tobacco and alcohol. We have an obvious choice with tobacco and
alcohol but we have a much harder choice with nutrition. The
reason for this is mainly because it's very difficult to get the
right kind of nutrition, i.e. fresh fruits and vegetables. These
are seasonal and when ...
